Thanksgiving Bible Verses

Psalm 31:19

How abundant are the good things
   that you have stored up for those who fear you,
that you bestow in the sight of all,
   on those who take refuge in you.

Psalm 95:1-7

 3 For the LORD is the great God,
   the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,
   and the mountain peaks belong to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
   and his hands formed the dry land.

6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
   let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
7 for he is our God
   and we are the people of his pasture,
   the flock under his care.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
   his love endures forever.

1 Chronicles 29:11-13

11 Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power
   and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
   for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, LORD, is the kingdom;
   you are exalted as head over all.
12 Wealth and honor come from you;
   you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
   to exalt and give strength to all.
13 Now, our God, we give you thanks,
   and praise your glorious name.

Psalm 107:1

Why Do People Hate Tim Tebow?

Tebow is now 2-2 as a starting quarterback in the NFL (and if you don't know he's working with one of the worst teams out there), but you would think he's 0-4, with horrible stats the way people speak of him. Most of the Tebow haters say he's not a quarterback. Tell that to Miami and the other teams he beat as he was behind center. He has 15 Td's with only 3 interceptions. 7 of those TD's are rushing. He hasn't had an entire season to prepare yet so I would think he will only improve his skills as he gets used to the NFL. The truth that scares all of his critics is the fact that this is most likely as bad as he'll ever get. For now his constant 4th quarter heroics speak for itself.

Aaron Rodgers had 6 wins 10 losses his first year. And Rodgers had a better team to work with not to mention a more efficient learning process as he was studying behind the great Brett Favre for 2 whole years.

Peyton Manning went 3 wins and 13 losses his first year. Though he went 13 and 3 the following year which showed he just needed to iron out a few kinks.

Tom Brady was simply a beast from the get go, but his first full season he only racked up 9 wins and 7 losses.

Steve Young definitely had difficulties early on. His record as a starter was 3–16. In his 19 games, he threw for only 11 touchdowns with 21 interceptions while completing fewer than 55% of his passes. That was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers which was a horrible organization, similar to Tebows current position with the Broncos where now without Brandon Loyd and no real running threat Tebow is pretty much the whole offense. Even when Steve Young went to San Fran and Joe Montana was finally done they went 4-4 until Young warmed to his new roll.

Troy Aikman also had a pretty rough start and his team actually had some talent. He finished 1989 with an 0-11 record as a starter, completing 155 of 293 passes for 1,749 yards, 9 TDs, 18 INTs.

John Elway's first season in 1983 ended with a record of 9 wins 7 losses with many more interceptions than TD's. Brett Favre also went 9 for 7, Carson Palmer went 8-8, Johnny Unitas went 7-5.....etc

We as Christians aren't surprised at all by the negativity he receives from the media as we are used to the media being against all things Christian. The Bible is full of warnings that we will be treated badly while we follow Jesus. Here are a few verses that speak about the persecution we Christians will continue to endure.

1 Thessalonians 3:7

2 Corinthians 12:10

Hebrews 10:33

Tim Tebow was born in the Philippines as his missionary parents were there spreading the love of Jesus Christ. His mother was told to have an abortion due to high risk of complications but her faith wouldn't allow her to and I'm pretty sure she's glad she made that decision.

He's an amazing story, if you're interested in knowing more of Tebow here are some links.

A Legal Defense of the Biblical Gospel

A Legal Defense
of the Biblical Gospel in an Age of Secularism

"In this message from Craig Parton, we consider the topic of apologetics. We'll explore the history and value of lawyers' defense of Christianity, dealing with objections to the faith, what apologetics is and is not, and why and how all believers are called to defend the faith."

Acts 8:37 Why Shouldn't I be baptized?

If you're worried about being allowed to be baptized or partake in the breaking of The Holy Bread this will help. Here's a wonderful excerpt from Charles Spurgeon's morning and evening devotion.

"If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest."
Acts 8:37

"These words may answer your scruples, devout reader, concerning the ordinances. Perhaps you say, "I should be afraid to be baptized; it is such a solemn thing to avow myself to be dead with Christ, and buried with him. I should not feel at liberty to come to the Master's table; I should be afraid of eating and drinking damnation unto myself, not discerning the Lord's body." Ah! poor trembler, Jesus has given you liberty, be not afraid. If a stranger came to your house, he would stand at the door, or wait in the hall; he would not dream of intruding unbidden into your parlour--he is not at home: but your child makes himself very free about the house; and so is it with the child of God. A stranger may not intrude where a child may venture. When the Holy Ghost has given you to feel the spirit of adoption, you may come to Christian ordinances without fear. The same rule holds good of the Christian's inward privileges. You think, poor seeker, that you are not allowed to rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory; if you are permitted to get inside Christ's door, or sit at the bottom of his table, you will be well content. Ah! but you shall not have less privileges than the very greatest. God makes no difference in his love to his children. A child is a child to him; he will not make him a hired servant; but he shall feast upon the fatted calf, and shall have the music and the dancing as much as if he had never gone astray. When Jesus comes into the heart, he issues a general licence to be glad in the Lord. No chains are worn in the court of King Jesus. Our admission into full privileges may be gradual, but it is sure. Perhaps our reader is saying, "I wish I could enjoy the promises, and walk at liberty in my Lord's commands." "If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest." Loose the chains of thy neck, O captive daughter, for Jesus makes thee free."

These devotions are seriously a life saver! These daily reading are VITAL throughout your walk with God. I love getting them sent to my email daily. You can too :)
